Riverside Walks

Magila Falls provides a number of trails and walkways where you can explore nature and discover what “Mother Nature” is offering. Walk through the numerous trails and learn about some medicinal plant species at Magila Falls.


We also BBQ meats (“Nyama Choma”) at Magila Falls on a regular basis and our meats include beef, Mbuzi, chicken or fish. The meats are BBQ’d in a traditional way (open air convectional method) and spiced using locally available spices including cardamom, black pepper, cloves, garlic and red pepper.

Relaxing around the Bonfire

Nothing says evening like a bonfire at the Riverside View Lodge and the East Usambara Mountain View Lodge. Come and enjoy sipping on refreshments with friends.

Mountain Biking

Our mountain biking trails pass through selected trails in and out of Magila Falls. We encourage our guests to choose biking trails that fit their specific fitness levels.

Church Tour (Oldest Church in Tanzania)

Enjoy and learn the history of the oldest church in Tanganyika. The church was built in the 1840s. The church tour covers over 22 points of interest.

Bird Watching

Enjoy bird watching daily (morning and evening hours). It is reported that Magila Falls and areas could be a habitat for over 100 bird species. Enjoy the biodiversity nature of Magila Falls and birds are part of.

Enjoy a relaxing shower and what Mother Nature has to offer at any one of seven distinct waterfalls


Enjoy swimming in our pool located at the East Usambara Mountain View Lodge. You can also enjoy swimming in our unique riverbed potholes

Try fishing in the river with our traditionally crafted fishing roads. You will also have a chance to use modern fishing rods. The catch is that we practice “catch and release”


Magila Falls is a perfect location for taking memorable photos as we have historical church buildings and landmarks (Borden Powell’s Scout monument), river and stream, forest, mountain and hillsides.
